Newcomer Serbia meets Germany in the final

Serbia has reached the final at the ARAG WORLD TEAM CUP at its first attempt and will meet hosts Germany at the Duesseldorf Rochusclub on Saturday. There were only two newcomers who achieved that feat previously, Yugoslavia and Croatia. Yugoslavia even won the title (2-1 over Sweden) at its debut in 1990; Croatia lost the 1995 final 2-1 to Sweden.

Serbia remained undefeated in the round robin Blue Group. The Serbian doubles Viktor Troicki and Nenad Zimonjic ensured participation in the final by beating the Italians Francesco Piccari-Andreas Seppi 6-0, 7-6(5). Duesseldorf (pps)
