Two Time Champs from Chile to Return to Duesseldorf
Two-time champions Chile confirmed their place in the 2006 ARAG ATP World Team Championship field, at a press conference held in Duesseldorf. Fernando Gonzalez and Nicolas Massu, who spearheaded the title-winning campaigns for Chile in 2003 and 2004, will return to the Rochusclub from 21-27 May. The Chileans took the place of France in the eight-team, round robin format tournament.
Gonzalez and Massu will join the likes of Andy Roddick, Ivan Ljubicic, Gaston Gaudio, Nicolas Kiefer, Tommy Haas and Bob and Mike Bryan for that extraordinary clay-court event. Defending champions Germany, the United States, Croatia, Czech Republic, Spain, Argentina are other nations who confirmed their participation in the ARAG ATP World Team Championship that was first contested in 1978. The eighth spot still remains up for grabs for a wild card nation.
