The 2008 ARAG World Team Cup offically began Saturday evening with the players' opening night party. This was the first year the party was held on the grounds of the Rochusclub in Düsseldorf, Germany.

All 8 teams competing this week were in attandance, in addition to Rochusclub members, tournament directors and event staff. Following brief welcoming statements by Dr. Thomas Werthmoller, vice president of the Rochusclub, and Dietloff von Arnim, tournament director, the players were introduced to the crowd by their respective team captains.

The VIP tent, decorated with flowers and a white motif accented by soft colorful lights, was the location of the event. The party was set up buffet style and catered by the Hilton. Live music entertained the party goers through the course of the evening.
