With Top 10 players Andy Roddick and James Blake in singles and the Bryan twins as the currently world's best doubles team, the USA have entered their dream team at the 2008 ARAG WORLD TEAM CUP to be played at the Duesseldorf Rochuclub on May 18-24.
The reigning Davis Cup champions obviously want to finally win the World team title again since their last victory dates back to 1993 when Pete Sampras, Patrick McEnroe and Michael Chang achieved the fourth and last US title – defeating Germany with top player Michael Stich in the final.
Since Roddick (currently 6th in the World Ranking) and Blake (8th) had confirmed their participation at the beginning of April, tournament director Dietloff von Arnim has now received Bob and Mike Bryan's confirmation.
The Bryan twins have been the world's best doubles team on the circuit for years. Left-handed Bob and right-handed Mike, born on April 29, 1978, have together won 46 doubles titles most recently last Sunday in Barcelona. They finished top in the ATP Doubles Ranking in 2005, 2006 and 2007, the same position they are currently holding. Their record include titles at all four Grand Slam tournament and the Masters Cup, the doubles World Championship.
The Bryans will play at the Rochusclub for the consecutive year since 2004. And of course their record at the ARAG WORLD TEAM CUP is excellent, ten wins in twelve matches. Last year they were victorious on all their three matches, did not concede a single set, and their opponents managed to take just nine games from them.
